High Barrier Film: Pouch Area and Oxygen Entry

A High Barrier Film selected for a small sachet needs another assessment when the package becomes larger. The same area-normalized OTR does not imply the same oxygen entry per pack.

Cailong's Metallized Film Supplier range lists VPET-GZ and related grades for oxygen and moisture protection. Request laminate OTR under matched conditions before comparing package sizes.

Count the exposed panels

Include both main panels and exposed gussets in the area estimate. Multiplying OTR by that area estimates panel transmission under the stated test conditions, excluding seams, closures and leaks.

Keep the product allowance separate

Relate the estimate to the product quantity and allowed oxygen exposure. Initial headspace oxygen and oxygen already in the contents are separate inputs. Film OTR alone cannot predict shelf life.
