Metallized PET Film Pattern Registration

Metallized PET Film with clear and aluminum-coated zones can create a window or decorative pattern. Registration becomes the risk when the metal boundary drifts from printing, pouch edges or die-cut features.

Before contacting a Metallized Film Supplier, prepare a drawing with web direction, repeat length, clear-zone dimensions and one datum for every converter. The product page confirms customized patterns and a narrow transition line.

Keep One Datum

The metallizer, printer and bag maker should not reference different edges. Mark drive side, winding direction and print face. Include tolerances for metallization, printing, laminate stretch and cutting.

Measure Drift by Stage

Retain samples after metallization, printing and lamination. Compare each with the drawing and record machine- and cross-direction error separately to find where movement begins.

Approve Function and Appearance

Check clear and metal zones on the formed package. If a zone provides barrier, test it separately from registration. Supply roll width, repeat, artwork, allowable drift and the finished-piece drawing for a trial.
