Locate the Weak Interface

When metal transfer appears, determine whether separation is at PET/aluminum, aluminum/extrudate or another bond. Tape appearance alone cannot identify the failed interface in a multilayer sample.

Map Heat and Tension

Record web temperature, air gap, draw ratio, nip pressure and tension by roll diameter. Keep samples from the start, steady run and roll end to separate thermal damage from pressure or handling marks.

Release after Conversion

After conditioning, compare peel, appearance and required OTR/WVTR. Flex the laminate before retesting. Send the structure, settings, failure images and control roll before changing several variables.
