BOPP AlOx Film for Hard Candy Pillow Packs

Oct 12,2026 | FOSHAN CAILONG METALLIC PACKAGING MATERIAL CO.,LTD

BOPP AlOx Film can be evaluated for clear hard-candy pillow packs when the brand wants the colors and shapes visible while limiting moisture-related surface changes. The package also has to accommodate a hard product that moves inside the bag. A clear laminate selected only for appearance may leave sticking, local contact damage or closure problems unresolved.

Cailong, an AlOx Film Supplier, lists BOPP-AlOx-GZ as a transparent barrier web for PP-based flexible packaging, printing and lamination. Its role is to contribute barrier within a defined construction. It does not turn the oxide layer into a heat seal, approve every candy formulation or establish a measured storage life for the completed pillow pack.

The candy surface controls the product brief

Define what the brand needs to preserve: a dry surface, separation between pieces, clear appearance or another specified condition. Hard candies with different coatings or fillings should not automatically share one moisture target. Use the actual formulation and packing history to identify the complaint. A pack that looks closed can still require investigation if the pieces stick together or their surface appearance changes.

Keep the initial candy condition controlled during film comparisons. Product entering packaging under different cooling or humidity conditions can make the same laminate appear to give different results. The confectionery producer should establish that starting condition, while the converter assesses the wrapper. Do not assign every surface change to the film without checking whether the product differed before it was enclosed.

BOPP AlOx Film fits the protective part of the laminate

A printed BOPP / adhesive / BOPP-AlOx / adhesive / CPP construction is one candidate for evaluation. The outside web supports decoration, the AlOx-coated web contributes the transparent barrier, and CPP provides the inside closing surface. Confirm the gauges and interface orientation with the converter. The PP-family arrangement is a design option, not a claim that this exact candy wrapper has already been qualified.

If a thinner construction is proposed, identify which layer functions are being removed or combined. The pack still needs printing, product contact and reliable closure. Do not omit the inside sealing requirement because the barrier web is called BOPP. Similarly, a PP-oriented structure should not be given a finished-package recycling claim without the relevant review of its coatings, adhesives, print and intended recycling route.

A pillow pack and a twist wrap are different formats

Specify the proposed closing arrangement. A pillow pack usually presents longitudinal and end closures, whereas a twist-end wrapper depends on a different way of holding its shape. Approval of one format does not establish suitability for the other. Keep BOPP-AlOx-GZ selection focused on the proposed laminated pillow pack rather than presenting it as a universal substitute for a twist-retention material.

Use the actual number of pieces and bag dimensions in the trial. An individually enclosed candy and an assortment can create different product movement and closure clearance. Check whether a piece reaches an end-seal area or presses against a folded transition as the bag is made. The correct structure must work with the format that the converter intends to manufacture.

Control contact from corners and moving pieces

Inspect where the hard candy touches the wall during packing and cartoning. A projecting edge or a shape that repeatedly contacts a narrow area can challenge the laminate differently from a smooth broad surface. Review the inside layer and complete structure for that contact, keeping the relevant product geometry with the sample. A bare outer-web strength result cannot describe every filled-pack contact.

If distribution leaves broken candy or a damaged wrapper, record the two outcomes separately. Fragments created by product breakage may introduce a new contact into the pack, while a film mark can exist with the candy still intact. Identify the sequence before adjusting gauge. A material change intended to resist a particular contact may not resolve damage caused by the packing arrangement itself.

Transparency requires a real viewing standard

Approve the clear panel with the actual candy behind it and the intended printed borders in place. Glare, wrinkles or a bond defect can be more noticeable over brightly colored pieces than on a loose film sample. Agree on viewing distance and lighting for the brand's inspection. The word transparent does not define the acceptable appearance of the filled pillow pack.

Separate a cloudy window from a change on the candy surface. Wipeable outside marks, laminate appearance and product coating are different observations. Keep retained material from before filling so that the first stage introducing the condition can be located. This avoids changing the barrier web to correct an optical or product condition caused elsewhere in the process.

Moisture protection must include the closures

Request coating- and grade-specific WVTR and OTR under the conditions needed for comparison, with the specimen identified. Use those results alongside closure inspection and the producer's candy-quality assessment. An intact high-barrier panel does not compensate for a seam channel. Conversely, a leaking made pack should not be used as the measurement of the undamaged film's intrinsic transmission property.

Test the selected pillow pack after its intended packing and storage sequence. Record surface sticking, appearance, closure integrity and local film damage on the same construction. If a new opening notch or feature is included, keep it in that comparison. The consumer-opening result should be judged on the filled pack without confusing easy opening with resistance to an unintended tear during handling.

To discuss BOPP-AlOx-GZ for hard-candy pillow packs with Cailong, send the candy formulation type, piece shape, count and current wrapper. Include the closing layout, production cooling condition, display requirement and any sticking or contact-damage observations. This defines a transparent PP barrier trial around the candy and its actual format rather than a general request for clear snack film.
