PSU Film (Polysulfone Film) – High-Temperature Transparent Specialty Engineering Film
CaiLong PSU Film is a high-performance, amorphous polysulfone-based film typically supplied in thin/ultrathin gauge for functional and industrial applications where you need transparency + long-term heat + repeated steam/chemical exposure, and where common PET/PC or even some nylons reach their limit. It belongs to the same “high-end, hydrolysis-stable” family people also know as PPSU/PSU medical/industrial materials, but here it is presented as a film/sheet stock for converting, die-cutting, laminating and precision parts rather than for injection molding.
Why PSU film is specified (selection highlights)
-
High continuous-use temperature capability: generally in the ~150°C class for long-term service, with short-term peaks higher, and a glass-transition region around ~185–190°C that keeps stiffness/dimension stable where standard films soften.
-
Exceptional hydrolysis and steam sterilization stability: PSU resists hot water/steam cycles far better than many transparent films, so it is commonly chosen for reusable medical/life-science accessories and for devices that see repeated wash/autoclave-like exposure (always validate cycle parameters for your part shape and stress state).
-
Transparent amber tone with good light transmission: offers visual inspection capability while providing far higher chemical/thermal durability than PC or acrylic sheet.
-
Strong chemical resistance to many aqueous media, acids/alkalis, salts and cleaning agents; limited around strong polar solvents and some chlorinated/organic solvents—chemical compatibility should be checked against your actual reagents and concentration.
-
Excellent electrical insulation and dimensional stability with very low creep under heat/load, making it useful for precision insulating components and test-rig elements.
-
Inherent flame resistance behavior without halogen additives and low smoke tendency; typically UL 94 V-0 achievable by thickness/grade (confirm per certification file).
What we supply & how it’s used
-
Supplied as rolls or sheet stock depending on gauge: customizable thickness, width/slit, roll length, surface finish (smooth/matte), and optional treatments/coatings (release, primer or functional topcoat) discussed case-by-case.
-
Process-friendly for thin-gauge converting: slitting, die-cutting, punching, laminating and thermoforming-type shaping in many designs (validate with your adhesive/process and sterilization cycle before scaling).
Typical application fields (intent buyers search for)
-
Medical & life-science accessories: reusable device windows/guards, sterile-fluid contact components, diagnostic instrument film parts, autoclavable gaskets/spacers and overlays (final biocompatibility/extractables/sterility validation is customer-application dependent).
-
Food & beverage processing aids: hot-fill/clean-in-place (CIP) compatible film spacers, sight-window inserts, hygienic covers and liners where transparency and steam/hot-water stability matter.
-
Electronics & analytical instruments: high-temp insulating spacers, covers and barriers where clarity helps inspection and chemicals/solder reflow–type heat appear nearby.
-
Industrial filtration/sensing supports: diaphragm supports, membrane backing film scenarios where hydrolytic stability and steam resistance are decisive.
Compliance & documentation note
PSU film can be positioned for food-contact or medical-device ancillary use, but suitability depends on exact grade, any coating/primer, and finished assembly validation (FDA/EU/REACH/RoHS pathways, applicable GB-series references). Tell us your end-use, sterilisation method (steam/ETO/gamma), and any required extractables or compliance evidence—we’ll match grade and provide docs per batch/order.
